Review: Only God Can Make a Kitten By Rhonda Gowler Greene, Laura J Bryant (Illustrations)

Only God Can Make a Kitten

By

Having grown up with six younger siblings, I think I am qualified to judge children's books...and let me say, I can be a pretty careful judge! My siblings are also talented artists, and I am an avid reader, so we don't love just every storybook out there!

I was extremely pleased with Only God can make a Kitten! It is an honorable substitute for all the loud, chaotic books published for children nowadays! My first impression of this delightful storybook was a combined pleasure in both the soft tones of the illustrations as well as the well-composed text. The latter is made up of rhyming words. Nothing too silly, nothing overwhelming. Just simple yet important words revealing the truths about God creating everything in this world, including the little child enjoying the storybook. The illustrations also captured that gentle, family spirit with pastel-toned drawings of a Mama and children exploring the beautiful world God has created. Although gentle in tone, this book is sure to capture young children's attention since there are many pleasing details in the illustrations. This is a book which children will delight in over and over again; perfect for a bedtime story! It is such a delight to see Christians publishing quality books for children.
